Entering The Twilight Zone... again
Hello friends!
Please forgive my absense! Prepping to move, along with my own life ups and downs have kept me from blogging.
Sometimes I just have to let go of writing and posting a bit. I have to refocus myself!
I wrote this post 5/28/2005. At that time we were finishing MBA schooling and preparing to move here.
It is 10 years later.
Isn't time the oddest thing?
The echo of a nearly empty house, similar to when we arrived, boxes packed, similar to when we arrived. The difference now is that we are leaving, not arriving. We are looking back at memories here, instead of forward. This place is familiar instead of new.
It feels like we've been here forever, but it has gone by so quickly and feels like we just arrived.
As I vacuumed out Q's closet I entered the "warp" of time. I haven't opened it in such a long time. When we first arrived here I actually hung clothes in that closet (it is soooo small). The clothes that hung in there were baby dresses, 6-9 months, she was a baby, now she's a toddler. It was just the three of us, now it's the four of us.
I had the same feeling when I vacuumed out the "family closet", which now doubles as G's room (opposite of the other closets this one is huge)! When we first arrived, we stored boxes and bins (storage) in the area where his crib is now.
Time is funny. It feels like we've been a family for forever, like I know these little souls as if they are grown. We have only been parents for 29 months!!!
Yep, time is odd. Change brings reflection and often reflection opens the un-gated, but very definitive "time".
Soon we will move and we will only look back on this "frame" of time. I feel like until we do that we are floating! Not quite IN what we are looking forward to, and still not able to LOOK BACK on where we are. Can you hear the music from "The Twilight Zone"! Then you know where I am at today!

As we prepare to move this time, some things will stay the same.
We aren't moving states, just areas/towns.
The kids will move schools, but we will remain in the same church ward.
It isn't as big of a change as we experienced 10 years ago.
But, that feeling of looking back at a period of time, that I felt 10 years ago, is familiar.
My babies grew up here. We brought 2 new babies home to this house.
We have changed it and updated it, and made it our own.
We have enjoyed friendship and community with our neighbors.
I have never loved this house, but we have made it our home.
It will be hard to close the door and say goodbye, no matter how excited I am to move!
Tomorrow is our final walk through at our new house.
We close Friday.
We move everything next week.
Then it starts again, building a new nest, making new memories, enjoying a new chapter of our lives.
There is a certain sadness as I look back sometimes.
I miss where I have been.
I love looking forward and I enjoy my current life so much, but I wish I could live it all simultaneously!
Have my kids stay little and be big!
My life is full. This I am sure of.
I am blessed.
Here is to our next chapter...
