DIY Birthday Crown and Printable Birthday Tags
It is winter break here... the kids are out of school all week.
I actually am good with that. No running around for us.
We have friends over to play and I can get plenty done!
Today I've been putting my store together.
I have some birthday goodness for you today.
Remember this cute crown? I made it to match this birthday outfit for a shoot I did last month.
I'm going to show you how to make one for your little princess. You could easily adapt it for your little prince. I'll be making one of those for my boys to share next month!
It is a fairly easy process. I started by cutting a 5 inch piece of poster board. You can measure your child's head next, for the circumference. You don't have to be exact, we'll be making this so it will grow with your princess. This crown is about 13 in long.
Cut the top edge how you want it.
Cut some fabric to the same-ish length and width.
Generously slather (love that word) ModPodge to the board then lay that on top of the fabric (the wrong side of the fabric).
Smooth out the fabric, let it dry.
Cut the excess fabric away from the poster board.
Next decide what sort of embellishments you want. You could do ribbon, feathers, anything.
For this crown I used a strip of organza, that I sewed a stitch through to gather it.
I knotted both the ends. I hot glued it to the bottom edge of my crown.
Next I added some sparkle trim to cover the thread.
After that I added some feathers, flowers I'd made, and some ribbon.
My last step was punching a hole in both ends. I used small grommets to ensure no tearing.
I threaded cute ribbon through there so I can tie it around any little princess head.
What do you think? I need one for me! :)
Next on my birthday streak...
I created some new birthday tags.
A couple of years ago my good friend sent me all of these birthday tags. Printed, cut, ready to tape on any gift... I have grown to LOVE them! No making cards, especially when I'm in a hurry! We've mostly used them for little friends gifts.
Well, I am almost out!
I went online and found the one's Lenni gave me... here.
I've grown out of those, so I made me some new ones... I'll share! There are girl tags and boy tags.
