THE Mario party...
Going back to G's party.
It was a success! I don't know that we'll do home parties for him anymore, the boys get louder the bigger they get! Our home just isn't large enough to do this again! Maybe we'll have moved by the time his party year comes around again.
I am a fan of the home party, I like to entertain! I can see why people don't do it though! It's much work!
The kids had a great time.
We did a tournament theme.
We started with Mario and did a round to see who could go the farthest on one life. It took us a minute to figure everyone was good enough that we needed to skip to the hard boards for a good challenge.
We headed outside to play a game of 'knock out', what I used to call 'lightning'. Believe it or not it started to snow... so after that game we brought it back in to do a round of lightning round hockey, then we did a crazy distance basketball shot.
Each winner got a prize and they seemed to enjoy.
We had pizza, of course, in between all of the tournaments. We had cupcakes as well. We opened gifts for G and then the kids continued w/ Mario and their other made up games.
I think G enjoyed it, and I would call it a success.
It was good to meet some of his little buddies from school.
Here is a look at some of the 'fun' stuff...
I used plastic table covers to create some sky and clouds on my feature wall.
Don't you love plastic table covers? You can use them for so many things!
I used our cardboard bricks to create my game look. You can find those HERE.
I covered my tiered tray with the table covers as well, for a cute cupcake tower.
G wanted regular chocolate. We did cookies and cream for school and our home cake, so I appreciated plain chocolate cake.
I'm also in love w/ these baking cups, seriously saved my life the day I took treats in... I'll share that crazy story! Love that I can bake in them, no tin needed.
I topped each cupcake with a Mario Figurine, which I also got online.
I had treat bags the boys could fill with treats, they loved the gumballs! We did taffy, airheads, chocolate coins, mustaches and remotes.
I bought the chocolate molds on Amazon, and just used melting chocolate to create the mustaches and remote.
AND, a must photo... the mustaches!
Cute birthday boy...
I created drink labels, thank you tags, and circle tags for whatever else you may think of.
I'm sharing them with you! Download them HERE, as well as invitations and thank you notes!
