The joke goes something like this...
I'll start by saying that the week before last we were in 'meltdown' mode... electronically!
The little boys DVD player went out a few weeks ago. We were down to the VCR in their room, until my little O jammed it w/ a video he'd put in, but not before he'd explored the tape inside that video!
Then, as we were heading out for our V-day date, which I had planned, our 65in TV went out. We've had our baby for 10 years! M and I bought that to compensate for our lack of childbearing back in the day! We felt sad we couldn't get pregnant, so we filled that gaping hole with a very large TV!!!
Our baby has gone the way of the other dying electronics in our home, that way is out to the curb! It was a sad, sad moment.
So for our date night, of which I'd so thoughtfully planned to get M fitted for new golf clubs, took a little detour and we added to the list searching for a new TV. So many options are available now days, but of those many options the one which is a big NOT for us is downsizing! Size DOES matter and bigger is better for us!
M did some searching and quickly ordered us a TV... online, serioulsy with the taxes here in NY you could buy another small TV just with the money you spent on TAXES!!! Really!
Not long after that we searched for a stand.
Shawn came to help us move the old TV last Wednesday. So sad to see our giant TV on the side of the road. As I came down to ask them how it went, they both said smooth and easy. Shawn then wondered how long it would be before he had to move it out AGAIN... because there is this 'crazy lady' that brings home stuff, in her trusty minivan, that she finds on the side of the road! Yes, that would be me! They just needed to keep me inside until the garbage truck came by to make sure it stayed on the side of the road!!! Now isn't that funny? :) In all truth I really did a quick scan to see if there was anything to repurpose on that TV!!!
It's good to have friends (and of course my husband) that know me too well, and are my friends, even though they do!
To finish off this story, we had already gone to search for a new sectional sofa while mom was here. Our couches are also old and etched with countless stains! We found the perfect guy and it will be delivered tomorrow!
I've got to give the TV credit, that was nice timing on going out! In just another day I will have a brand new room, that I wasn't planning on having! I think I'll go farther and get new curtains, and of course I'll need new pillows, such fun!
Thank heavens for a plump bonus! Who wants to pay off student loans anyway!? (I say this in jest as anyone who knows my husband knows he has developed a small ulcer in the past few weeks!)
Our old TV... goodbye and thanks for all of the good times! (You can see in this photo the little TV the C's lent us... since they have 5 TV's in their home!)
