Adventures in Grocery Shopping

Today I took the kids shopping with me. We didn’t have anyplace to go today so I thought it might be fun! It wasn't THAT bad.

We first hit Linen's and Things for an ironing board cover and some canisters. I found a rug that I liked for our family room and got that as well. Our current rug looks AWFUL. I'm seriously embarrassed for anyone that has to go in that room and see it. I put our old rug down in the dungeon, the laundry room. It will be much better than cold cement. Our new rug is a darker color and very nice on the feet!

Next we went grocery shopping. I rarely do this with my children. It isn't so bad when I can get one of those carts made for two kiddies. I couldn't find one today... let the adventure begin! It really wasn't THAT bad, my kids were pretty good considering. I am annoyed when I can't find things... like marshmallows. Are they with the cooking stuff, the baking stuff, the ice cream stuff? I couldn't find them. I am truly annoyed when I walk the isles twenty times and can't find what I am looking for, the LAST item on my list. Add to that two bored and tired children and it begins to get bad!

So, when the kind old man, checking me out, asks if I found everything I needed, I of course say no, where are the marshmallows? He asks the manager and he looks at me and says, a little in the "duh" tone, "They are on isle 13". Well, dumb-ass, does it look like I can run on over to isle 13 and get them NOW? I have two screaming children, an old lady behind me and a load of groceries on the belt. It was a lovely stall moment where I waited for him to offer to grab me some, and he didn't. So I told him I needed two bags... get a move on! Awful service today!!! I didn't mind the slow old man, I do have respect and sympathy. I did mind the snooty manager that wasn't very observant.

Anyhoo, on a more service-oriented note, our ward, like many others, are putting together hygiene kits to send to New Orleans. I bought a bunch of combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap to put them together. Now all I need are hand towels. I plan to buy a bit extra on each shopping trip until we send them out.
