Cool Color
Happy New Year!!!
I love a fresh start, new beginnings, renewed charges!
I have set some goals for myself. In this realm of photography I have set specifically the goal of growth. I do want to grow my business, I also want to grow as a photographer.
What does that mean? I want to spend some time and effort focusing on my expressions, my art with photography. I also want to try my hand at some fashion photography. I'd love to grow into this area more. I love beauty shoots, senior shoots. I love styling them, posing them. I could do more of this and love it!
In no way does this mean that I stop what I am currently doing... this is my passion.
My tag line is... capturing life's moments.
I want to create images that people can connect with.
Seeing an image can create a feeling.
Seeing a couple make vows to each other is not only meaningful for them, but somehow makes you want to stand there yourself.
Seeing the image of your baby, when she was tiny, makes you appreciate motherhood, and how fleeting time is.
Seeing the perfect sunset makes you sigh and often want to be where it is.
I do love this art form!
Not only do I want to capture my client's life moments, so they can always feel them, I want to create images that move people in other ways.
I've already started.
OK... moving on!
I wanted to share the power of color. A good image is priceless, capturing a moment priceless.
THEN, the world is open as you enter editing. How do you want to covey that moment? As it was shot? Do you want to make it mystical, warm and cozy, hard and edgy? This is where the world of editing is magical.
Let's start with this recent shoot of mine.
It was shot on a winter day. The snow is white, there are pops of color and I could leave it as is...
I would say this is sooc, however I have already done a couple of edits w/ flying hair and a not-so-happy-face. I also boosted the color a little already...
Buuuut this is my point, from here depending on the mood or 'feel' I want for this photo, I can create it with color.
Top left is obviously a classic with the choice of no color, but even here you can play with shades of grey for a lot, to little contrast, and you can even add yellow for a more sepia feel, or blue for a 'cooler' photo.
Top right has a lot of magenta in it. It feels wintry and a little retro.
Bottom left is warmer, with more yellows and even some sun flare.
Bottom right is cool and winter crisp. Can you see the blue in the photo?
Which do you prefer? I think each of them is beautiful of course.
This is the beauty of editing! It is great to take an image and, just with color, affect the feel of a photo.
PS - to edit color on your own images play with the 'temperature' of it. In photoshop it's fun to not only play with the main color, but then the shadows and highlight colors as well. Try it!
