Wednesday: The Olympic Park and Kendal
Wed morning I slept in a little. I wanted to take the kids with me to my old high school to do my speed work. This is actually not my alma-matter! It's been rebuilt into a beautiful new school! Still it was great to see it and go run around the track.
Q chose to stay home. These boys ran up and down the stairs, played on the field and gave me high 5's as I did my 5x800's. I wish I'd brought liquid! My mouth dries out so fast! I need to drink during my workouts here!
I had 1 more 800 to do when some boys came to practice soccer. G is very into this right now. They sat and watched them kick. I did some stairs too. It is a beautiful new school. I was happy to be there!
By Wednesday (7/9) these kids were ready for some cousin time, but we were still at Gma's! I was ready for something we've not done yet on our trip here, and it was great to do it just with Gma. I took the kids up to Park City. I wanted to take them down the Alpine Slide. We saw the Olympic Park as we were coming into town and decided to stop there first. We got out and walked around and saw the cool ski jumps, training pool. It was super neat!
I went to find out about anything they had to offer and found out they built a new slide, that is much safer than the old one. Sweet! We stayed there and experienced this one! I bought us tickets and we got on our little shuttle down to the ski lift.
Q was pretty anxious about going. She was nervous and wanted to ride w/ me. G said he'd be fine riding w/ O and E wanted to go w/ Gma.
This was one of the most scary moments of my life... watching my O with my G on the ski lift. I felt fine about E, he was w/ Gma and had a great time! Of all my kids O is a risk taker and with only G to ride beside him I was terrified!!! Seat belts! I wish there were seat belts!!! I kept yelling at him to sit back! He did a great job! We saw the giant ski jump right next to us as we rode up. Q was nervous, glad to be next to her!
At the top we watched the zip liners get released down the mountain! What a rush! That would be so fun/scary!
We went up to the slide, waited, then let Gma go first, to make sure she could get on the sled. She was fine. We sent she and E down. She told us that E had a great time and kept asking to go faster!
We sent G down next. He rode w/ O. Poor kid. I could tell he was nervous, but was so brave to take his little brother so I could ride w/ Q. He could barely reach around O to push his brake forward (to get the sled to go faster). We caught up w/ him pretty quickly and I kept yelling to him, to help him get his sled going. That stressed him out. We had a nice, slow ride down the mountain... I apologized to the people behind us that were hoping to ride fast down the mountain!!! :)
At the bottom Q now complained that our ride was lame because she couldn't go faster. Oh the joys of parenthood! I reminded her that she was too chicken to ride by herself or take a brother, but G was brave enough to do that! She had no right to complain about her slow ride!
I felt bad G had a bad ride and offered to take him again. It's not even that expensive! I'd totally go again. He didn't want to, but I'll try to get up there again. He actually is interested in going on the ropes course. I do owe him one! I appreciated him being the brave big brother.
We ended our trip w/ ice cream and smoothies for our ride home. It was a great family activity! We loved it! I'd totally do it again!
That evening I went to pick up the van (Which had been in the shop getting the AC fixed... $800 later... sheesh! Still cheaper than renting a car!) then see Kendal's family. They came to Gma's house! We had pizza and visited while the kids played. They had a water fight, then it rained! They raced and played games in the back yard. It was so fun! Little E and L hit it right off and Q loved taking care of R. I enjoyed catching up w/ K and W. I feel like I never get to spend enough time with them each year. We put movie night on the calendar with them, so I'm excited to be with them again. (They were unable to come to St. G)

Um, nice shot up my nose! Not sure why my nostrils are all flared out!

There was a playground/ninja warrior course the kids could play on. They had a great time climbing the wall and getting around the course w/o touching the ground.
