The Foreign Land of Post Office... & WIW
Really?
I was at the post office today and I was behind just one middle aged woman.
I was thinking sweet, this is the best day everrrr, don't have to wait at the post office... yahoo...
Of course I'd think that... and then not leave for another 12 minutes.
Lady (as I will call her) had three bills to pay, $10 to pay for her 3 stamps, and a look of bewilderment as she scribbled on envelopes.
She said she didn't know how much stamps cost as she pulled out a $5... then another $5.
I get that... they are always raising the price. You just never know...
Just in case, pull out that extra $5 because it's been that long since you've been to the post office?
You think it now costs more than $3 to send your lighting bill?
Where have you been? How long has it been since you've been at the post office?
Ok, yes, we mostly pay our bills via the internet now days, of course we don't know how much a stamp costs. I get it, I get it!
The little post office lady asked if she should take a $5 to pay for the stamps.
Lady was busy scribbling, but she nodded...
It must have been a while since she's been in a post office because she didn't know 'the post office etiquette'.
There is no addressing stuff at the register!
No, no, no...
All of that timely stuff has to be done already!
I don't want to watch you find an address and write it down.
The register is where you pay for stuff, not prep stuff!
I stood there perplexed. Not mad or anxious, but really intrigued actually.
The post office lady gave her 3 stamps and her change... from just $5.
Lady took the stamps and struggled a little to get the first one off.
You know, off of the sticker sheet they come on?
Lady is talking, 'you must think this is crazy, but I travel around on yachts, I just don't deal with paper anymore I guess...'
I guess!
Then she asked about the stamps... because the nice post office lady told her you don't have to lick them!!!
Yep, she licked it!
Oh, yah, they are sticky-backed now!
I guess all that time on the water removed her skin sensitivity... to stick!!!
As you pull that sticker off can you not feel it stick to your skin?
She was struggling with the last two, so, after a good 2 minutes, the nice post office lady reassured her that those stickers can be pesky, and she put those stamps on Lady's bills for her!
Lady then put her money away, asked if the receipt post office lady handed to her was indeed hers, and then she was outee!
Really? Really.
Did that just happen?
That was just weird for me!
I'm no post office junkie, but I feel that whole process shouldn't have been as challenging and awe inspiring as it seemed to be.
I know what I saw was awe inspiring for me... made me wish I traveled on yachts more often, so I feel more foreign with mundane things like the post office!

This is what I've been wearing as of late...
I'll admit this look would be better with a sandal rather than flips.
I need a little extra leg length goin on!
Love this tissue cardi. It has pockets and lace on the back.
The perfect weight for cool house/hot outside.
cardi: papaya, tshirt: marshalls, leggings: H&M
Yea for ankle length pants!
Color combo is fun, some olive with coral... we know I love it... with some aqua.
sweater: marshalls, olive khakis: gap outlet, wedges: old navy
Forgive my hair issues!
I was craving simplicity. Some gray pants with a white top.
Of course we need flair somewhere... camo shoes - check!
And can I gripe for just a moment?
These pants look big on me... why the crap do my shorts all feel tight on me then?
Is that not frustrating? I don't get it!
top: bj's wholesale, pants: marshalls (talbots brand), shoes: target
