Picnic Table Transformation

Yea, it's finally summer time!

G and O had their last day of school today!

As we do each year we all welcomed the kids from our street home with water guns as they stepped off the bus!  It is an ambush!  We have a giant water fight, swim, eat, visit, play kickball and baseball.  It truly is a fabulous way to start summer break!  We have such a great street!

Here is a recent project I finished.

I got this table at a yard sale last year.  The owner apologized to me when I bought it for $20.  He didn't know what his daughter was thinking painting it yellow!  I stuck up for her and told him I quite liked it!

This year the paint is coming off something fierce, so I decided to paint it.

I just painted a white paint/stain over it, with the hopes of sanding some white away to reveal some yellow.

We know I love color!

Here are the benches before I started.

I sanded them down to get off any loose paint.  I also washed them down and let them dry.

Here is how they look after some white...

I didn't worry about distressing the bottom at all, it just got a nice coat of white.

Story: I got the tops painted, a couple coats on there.  Distressed it all, they looked great.

Of course I don't have a photo though!  I took them outside and a couple of days later brought them back into the garage to repaint them.  The Maple tree was seeding and the seeds, mixed with water left some stains on the benches.  I brought them back in and put one more coat of white on them then polyurethaned them, which I also did on the table.

Here is the table in progress...

And the finished product.

I didn't do close up's, but you can see some of the yellow on the edges.  I love how it turned out.

AND, it looks so great on my

finished deck

right?
