G's Sports Themed Party
Let's go back to G's birthday... because it was a month ago and I still haven't written about it!
The morning of his birthday we sang to him of course! He got to choose what he wanted for breakfast, he chose a breakfast burrito. Along with that he had requested that I drive him to school, so he could sleep in. I thought that was a great request, since we all got to sleep in! O also ended up making that same request on his birthday.
$ from Uncle Rod... G loves saving his $, just like his dad!
He got a friend party this year. We rotate who gets friend and family parties every year.
We began looking at Lazer-tron, but the expense limited the friends he could invite.
He had so much fun this year playing inter-murals with all of his friends, I suggested a sports party.
We could have it in our church gym and he could invite as many people as he wanted. They could play dodge ball, floor hockey, touchdown, basketball, soccer, and any other game they wanted!
He was very excited about that idea, so we went for it!
Here is his invitation:
Here is a blank, printable party invitation if you'd like it. Either write info on there, or put your own text box on there with your editing software.
Prior to the party I bought sport pinny's/jersey for each child, that way we could rotate teams the whole time.
I got those here at Epic Sports.
I also bought a plastic water bottle, Gatorade and Big League Chew for each child.
I had all of our party stuff out from E's party so I loaded that into the car.
G helped M pump up a bunch of our rubber balls for dodge ball.
I only gave myself an hour to decorate the church. It wasn't quite enough time!
It started like this...
We had pizza and cake up on the stage, leaving the whole gym open for playing.
I hung lanterns and tissue balls from the curtain rods above.
They followed along the line of the tables that were out.
I covered the tables with green and put my wooden presents in the center of my balloon boquets.
Here is the cake table.
People started coming in as I finished this.
I didn't really have time to photograph, not that the boys care at all!
This is all for me, trying to make it look special for my boy!
Birthdays are a big deal, I wanted it to look better than just the church gym!
I also put our balloon wreath on the front door of the church, with a birthday banner.
The boys, and one girl, were in heaven!
They played their hearts out for 2 hours!
Here they are in a huddle making plans for capture the flag/jersey.
That was a game we hadn't planned on that they played.
Here they are playing hockey...
M brought us pizza, then they played, then we had cake and sang to G.
He had such a great time playing with all of his friends! It was so great.
We opened presents at home. He was thrilled with all of his gift cards! He loved the idea of having so much money to spend on whatever he wants!
It was a great weekend celebration starting with E's party, family gifts on Friday, party on Saturday!
Who wouldn't love that?
Happy birthday to my boy!
