Great Summer Necklace... you can make!

With summer here and the outbreak of plain t-shirts I've got to show you this fabulous accessory! It is a great, fun, statement to add to your easy summer wardrobe.
The kids love them too!

Q and I took some stuff, sat outside and crafted. She worked on a Halloween Costume for her doll and I worked on these...
Such an interesting combo right? These fun necklaces are made with bouncy balls, or shown above are plastic balls, and pantyhose/tights. I made a few for myself a couple of years ago, then of course bought a million balls and tights so I could sell them! Then, never made them! I'm happy to say I used most of my supply on Sunday!
Who thought we'd ever use pantyhose again? Finally they have purpose again!
I got this idea from Martha Stewart of course. I don't normally watch, but a couple of years ago I did because I'd entered a contest, did I win? In my mind I did, does that count?
They are super cute for a statement necklace. Every time I wear one someone comments on it. Here are some photos as a sample...

So, if you want, you can totally make these!
Start with pantyhose or tights. Note, the pantyhose will be longer and have more stretch than the tights. The weave on the tights is more dense so whatever you put in it will be more opaque, harder to see. The benefit of tights is they come in more colors. I'm all about bargains. I bought pantyhose at the dollar store and I watch for clearance tights at Target (love that place).
First cut the leg off of the panty part. Cut the toe as well. You'll have one long 'hose'!
Next put one ball in the hose. Prior to starting I recommend deciding which balls you'll be using. Lay out the pattern. Do you need to find center? Are you splitting center? Color pattern? So many things to decide!
Find center and either knot it there, so it's center, or place the ball there.
Then tie the knot.
Now pull the hose. The tighter you pull the more sheer it is, showing the color underneath. Pull as tight as you want then tie the knot on the other side. Work your way out on each side. Then tie the ends at whichever length you like.
There are so many color combos! The possibilities for your necklace are endless! As always, add something fabulous to your necklace and it becomes a whole new accessory!
