I'm thankful it didn't rain!
Living in Buffalo is wonderful. I really do love it here. In fact last weekend I went and did a photo shoot down town and, really, I love it here. It's such a great area for so many reasons.
BUUUt there is one downer, we seem to have sun shortage quite often here! It can be a little damaging to the psyche!
Since mom has been here the sun has only been out one or two days. You don't realize that it's constantly overcast until you see the sun again... and you feel like a vampire because you are blinded by it's brightness! Serious, they should've set the Twilight series in Buffalo, NY, not Washington state!
Every Halloween our kids trudge around buried under their coats. Dressing up isn't really a necessity because it's covered by your parka! Or, the creative ones incorporate it into their costumes.
Hurricane Sandy put a little larger dent in our Halloween, or that is what we anticipated. We didn't get much of anything here in Amherst. We had a large limb that fell down from our willow tree. An excuse for Matt to buy a chain saw, score! No power outage, no real wind damage. We did well. We were prepared, because you never know, until it smacks you in the face.
We weren't sure we'd be doing trick or treating. School was cancelled on Tuesday. Monday night was the worst of the wind and rain. Tuesday wasn't bad at all, in fact since everyone stayed home that was the day mom and I went shopping! Happy hurricane!
The boys missed their Halloween party at preschool, but everything else was business as usual. This year instead of soup dinners we hit Chipotle. If you came dressed up you got whatever dish you wanted for $2. I've never spent JUST $6 there! It was awesome! To get my discounted food I threw on a mummy shirt I got last year... for the kids! Thought I would try it, it's a little short, but it worked! It even flashes red right there on the heart that is emerging. Nice... Molly was a cat, we had a witch, monster high dolls, the bird, the faceless man, a transformer, power ranger and a cute skeleton. Dinner was great!
We always dine at the C's then head out trick or treating. This year was better than last. E was the only one who tired out, so I took him back to be w/ the boys. 'Mom, I have enough candy, I want to go home. My hands are cold.'
Mom handed out candy and Shawn and Matt sat and visited. Of course M got there late, he's a hard worker. No photos this year. It was still a little drizzly, and dark. But, we didn't get rained on. I'm thankful for that. We were able to go out and enjoy our Halloween. It felt a little off this year, but overall very good!
Thursday they had the makeup party at preschool. Here are my boys in costume. You can't see in the first image how mad E is that I put that mask on him... but you can see it in the second! The school had them do a little Thriller. They posted it on FB. Loved seeing my boys dance that, so great!
