Weekend Love

We are having much fun with Grandma here!  Talks of hurricane Sandy have got us all excited!  Sometimes you need to remember how small and insignificant you are.  This earth and all of it's movement is a good reminder at times.  No work, no school, no problem!  It's a great opportunity to be together, to just stop other things... concentrate on things of importance.

I've got my own little sweat shop working in the dining room.  I'll post about that later.  Here is a peek of things we are working on...

I had a request for a headband to match a Matilda Jane holiday dress.  I've made a bunch of stuff.  It gets it's own post though...

Friday my cute friend Sarah came over to craft.  It's been a year since we've been together.  This is when my whole craft room transfered into my dining room!

I started by working on this Halloween wreath.  When I got it several years ago it was a regular gem from the early 90's.  Grapevine wreath with pink and powder blue flowers and ribbon on it!  I stripped it down, spray painted it purple with sparkles then added some Halloween to it!

Some things have since fallen off and it needed a little facelift.  I gave it much needed love and volume!

I got this skeleton at JoAnn's for 70% off.  Doesn't matter that his arm is missing... it's Halloween!

This little spider hangs from some tulle.

Super happy to have that done and hanging outside, looking all purty again.

Did I mention that I had mom bring out some cinnamon bears for me?  She had an extra 10 lbs in her bag, for little ol' me!  I am chowing on these things like there is no tomorrow!  Must pace myself!!!

Friday we took the kids to the C's for date night.  Molly was taking the older two over to the school for fall fun night.  We had a little Halloween miracle.

First let me preface with... G is dressing up as what he was last year, no need for a new costume.  Love that about him, pretty easy to please!

Q on the other hand has been back and forth... I want to be a baby, no now I don't because someone at school is going to.  I want to be a witch, no a vampire, no a baby!  I went to look for a giant sleeper and found one for her.  It was too big and she wasn't all about that.  Return!

Friday is fall fun night, what are you going to do?  I don't know what to buy or make!  She thought she'd just dress up in her old vampire costume.  She didn't have any teeth, but cute Bella did!  Done.  Let's go!  She tried to paint her nails and that went south so now she doesn't want to be a vampire!

At times like this I really need to take a deep breath!  I'm happy to help I just don't know what you want to be!  I asked if she wanted to dress up?  Yes was the answer.  We went from there!  What can I create?

I went to the closet where all of my dance costumes hang.  I pulled out my 'bird' dance costume and we tried it on!  I was worried she'd be upset because the lycra shorts were baggy.  She didn't mind at all!  Perfect!  We did her hair, strapped on the boa and there you have it, a bird!

She was glowing!  Very happy with her costume!  She said to me as we were driving.  I realize Halloween isn't about being scary, it's about dressing up!  Yes, it's ok to look pretty or cute!  She felt great and looked fabulous!

We'll see what the actual day of Halloween brings.  Hope this sticks!

Saturday mom and I ran around!  I was going to do a senior shoot, then she canceled.  To get ready for my family shoot we went down town.  I needed some indoor options.  I'm glad I took the time to do that.  We certainly have enough bad weather here in Buffalo that it's good to know where I can go!

We got lunch and shopped then headed back down town for the shoot.  Mom was great, just hung out with me.  Loved having her there with me.

It was good to come home and relax Saturday evening.  We watched a movie together with the kids.  They loved it!
