Let's Review
Here we are at the end of Monday. I feel a little overwhelmed, with everything...
It's comforting I'm not the only one, I had three separate conversations with three different friends of mine today and we all blabbed and bawled and lifted... hormones maybe???
Let me go back to last week because I missed a bunch.
Thursday I had a newborn shoot, I'll post samples of that on the photoblog of course. This was the first time I requested the client to come to me, usually I'm happy to go to you, it can be overwhelming w/ a new baby. This was a short notice shoot and really they were happy to come to me. I didn't have to cart my stuff in/out of any one's house, it was great! I was inspired by the change of season and went shopping the night before for new colors, new things. It was a great shoot. I'm amazed how people find me. I don't really advertise except social media I guess. I'm so glad for successful shoots that result in people passing my name along to others.
After the shoot, lunch, clean up, kids home, homework. I checked music and created some new exercises for my new lyrical dance class. Last week I got a call from a gal that I'd met via photography. This is her cute peanut... She remembered I teach dance and called to ask if I'd be interested in teaching at her studio. I'm all about it if the stars align with day/time etc. The studio is in Lancaster and is just before my modern class at Center Stage. They are aligned!
It takes me a bit to get out there w/ traffic, but it's a great studio, a big class, and of course I love new people! The class went great and I'm excited to branch out a bit. I go right to my next class and teach modern. It's going well.
I've yet to take class for myself this year. I was going to go tonight, but I have work to do. Hopefully next week. Fortunately I get to move on Thursdays. This year probably won't be as full of dance as it's been in prior years, that's ok. Ebb and flow.
Friday we went out to Kalle's house. She had asked me to come help her arrange photos and such on her wall. We ended up moving just a couple of things around to create some balance, then determined where photos and other wall hangings should go. It was fun! I'm glad she asked me to come over!
As I was getting the grand tour we went through the garage where the bounty of their garden was being stored. They asked if I wanted some tomatoes and I ended up leaving with a small grocery store! Very generous! We traded our talents, I'm all about that. I learned some about gardening, new veggies, very cool. The boys played, ate a watermelon picked up from the ground. Loved it!
You thought I was kidding. Look at all of those tomatoes! I brought up my dehydrator, which I've used maybe three times... ever! I thought I'd try it on the tomatoes and use them for flavoring breads, chicken, salads. I felt very domestic!
I also got fresh lettuce, made a wonderful salad for lunch. I've never had lettuce straight from the garden. I'll try to cook the butternut, I haven't ever bought it. I can't remember the name of that last veggie, it's like a turnip, pretty good actually.
Kalle also hooked me up with corn stalks from the garden. Put those up right away. My front porch feels all festive. Since bringing those home I've killed a total of 6 big hairy spiders while driving in my van! I guess the stalks could've used a good shake before entering my van. The possibilities of crashing are great as you are driving and a little spider descends in front of your face!!! I hope they are all gone, but they just keep coming!
Saturday M went golfing w/ Shawn. I prepared for my day in Ellicotville. I had a wedding to do there, but went early to meet the planner and get the lay of the land. My drive was AMAzing! The colors are beautiful right now. I seriously think I live in the ugliest part of western NY! It is hilly and colorful as you head south. I met w/ Karen and was VERY excited for this wedding. Outdoor ceremony and the rest in the lodge. Leaves turning, evening light... super excited!
After meeting w/ her I had a few hours to myself. I brought some crafting stuff, and my scriptures. It was a wonderful few hours to myself. I took some photos, got some lunch and enjoyed the beauty of the earth.
