Q's Baptism
Q's baptism was wonderful. I wanted it to be special, everyone does.
I spent much time prior to, getting things ready. Making invites, programs, decorations, a talk, buying gifts. I started well in advance and I think the goal of making it a special day for Q was successful.
My mom and I covered each water bottle w/ a strip of paper I stamped w/ silver butterflies.
I made the programs, Cand and mom helped me tie the vellum to the paper. It was complete w/ the words to the primary songs on the back.
The table the night before. Cand, Scott, Matt and myself went Friday night to set everything up. I know the baptism isn't about the table decor, but, really I wanted to erase 'church gym' out for just a minute! The table and decor were fabulous! My good friends helped out and all brought white deserts for my particular little heart! We had white cookies, cupcakes, powdered doughnuts, cream puffs, and a shortcake. I wanted to get into the gym and take a picture before everyone started eating. I grabbed Molly's camera and got one, but the photo is still w/ Molly!
All the water sat on the tray, made out of an old window, around the branches.
There is a lot to think about w/ this event. I almost forgot a towel! I packed the last things Friday evening and we were set for Saturday morning.
Q's pretty dress waiting for her. She wore a flower in her hair that Lynette made for her. Precious!
Saturday morning I was so impressed! We were ALL ready to go... on time! We arrived early and got the table set, clothing ready, family photos taken, mom and dad chat time w/ Q, a photo w/ our good friend Shawn. Then, we were ready to go.
Dave Marchant conducted, Tim & Melissa Lewis played and conducted music and Grandma Cooper prayed. Candice sang a special musical number. It was beautiful. I cried like a baby! It was so nice to sit next to her at the piano, it felt like home, her voice so familiar to me. Scott spoke on baptism talking about the Lord having a plan for us. Then Shawn baptized my little girl. I cried like a baby again! I loved being there with her, watching from behind the scenes. She was bouncing off the bathroom walls! She was so happy right after. We got her changed and as I was drying her hair she told me that today she was getting the 'warm treatment', instead of the royal treatment. The water was warm, the hair dryer was warm, she felt warm. As we returned I spoke on the gift of the Holy Ghost. Shawn then confirmed my girl. As part of my talk I gave Q her new set of scriptures. G is a little jealous that he doesn't have a new set for himself. I don't know if he can wait until he turns 8. Truthfully he reads the scriptures more than Q does. He reads on his own a lot. Anyway, afterwards we ate and visited.
We came home and the Crockett's and Grandma also had gifts to give Q. Really, the fun never ended!
I had my family write their testimonies to Q. I will put all of them in a special book made for her. I am so thankful to my family for doing that. I'm so thankful my mom, dad, and sister's family came out. I'm so thankful to all of our friends that are so supportive. It was a wonderful day. I hope Q remembers it being special, and all about her.
