A month of Christmas

We have been busy trying to create memories!
We have an advent tree that we fill with things to do each December. Every day we try to have a little bit of Christmas.
So, here are some moments from our December.

That first week was hectic. I had the craft fair, photos, and Matt was in UT. I didn't even fill the tree until a few days in, BUT we always do the first few days the same. Letters to Santa are first. I was thankful for the buffer until I could get us all put together. We missed M for the first few days, but so looked forward to him getting home so we could get our tree! Anyway, some photos.

Letters

A Christmas movie... Our first was The Santa Clause. The kids loved it.

We finished it the following night with doughnuts and hot chocolate.

We did our decorating late this year, it was one of our advents! We also read some stories, watched more movies, went to the ward Christmas party (after McDonald's and the play place... Matt had just gotten back).

Then we were able to get our tree, and more hot chocolate!

We decorated, then had dinner by Christmas and candlelight. The kids loved it. I'm sure my candles did too, it's been a while since they've been lit up.

We did a new thing this year. I printed off coloring pages and we sat and colored. I was going to frame and hang them, I think we'll do this one early next year. I love the idea of our artwork decorating our home. I also printed off other activities. We had a race unscrambling words, through a maze and word searching. It was fun.

We got a sitter and Matt and I went out for a holiday party. I finally got to meet the guys he plays poker with. It was nice to be out and socialize together. Plus the night ended with a great compliment that really made MY night!

We've been to several Christmas gatherings. We went to the Chiapelli's with many of our friends. On Christmas Eve we celebrated at the Hulse's, then Christmas day we had the Christensen's and the Mosqueda's for dinner. It has been great to get together with our good friends, it really is a season for family and friends and being together is so good.

Of course one of the favorite activities each year is eating in front of the TV. I think we watched The Grinch this year.

I spent a day baking several different kinds of cookies and the following day we delivered to all of our lovely neighbors. I also dropped the special edition of the Ensign with a few of them, and the Joy to the World DVD to a couple of others. O only lasted for a couple of houses, but E stuck it out with us!

Our last advent is always open a gift. For the last couple of years we've done jammies, this year I added slippers. Next year I'll have to change it up. I like surprises!
