Road Trip (w/ Watts)

Saturday morning we caught up w/ the Watts. We kept in touch as they were trying to get across the country. We met up around noon and it was so great! We spent the day in Boston. We did this on/off bus that takes you around to all these stops and you can get off of the bus or stay on. It was quite the task getting all of us and the stroller on those buses that were pretty full! It was great though, a great way to see the city in a day.
We walked through Boston Common

and caught our first bus at the 'Cheers' bar.

We stayed on until we got to Fenway park. That was pretty cool, plus there was a movie filming on the next street. We didn't see anything, but Ben Afleck was the supposed star and we did hear a bunch of gunshots.

Next we headed past the bowling/strip club to find food! We had some pizza in the 'musical area' of Boston, the pizza place itself was a bit sketchy, but the surrounding area was great. Not many places that aren't great in that city. After lunch we got back on the bus and rode until the end. O fell asleep and took a much needed nap. Q & M played and the rest of us took in the sights, history and banter of our lovely tour guide Dick. Good times.

After our tour we made one last stop, these ducks are from "Make Way For the Ducks" or something like that. I don't leisurely read so I've never heard of it, but Lenni loved it and the kids didn't mind either. O almost found some new parents in the park and there was much PDA to be had... among all genders and gender combinations!

After that we packed up and headed out. Did I mention that prior to leaving our hotel I wondered where my camera was? Well, it was left in our hotel room, the only thing we left! Fortunately it was still there when I went to get it and they DID charge us another night for having to go back up, which was a mistake that they are correcting!

Next we headed to Salem. When we head east again I want to spend time in Cape Cod and more time in Salem. We ended up just driving through. M went years ago and saw some cool stuff relating to US witch history. Cool photo courtesy of Joey.

We drove up through NH and were looking for a place just on the boarder of Maine. Um, good luck with that! We found NO hotel vacancies! Lynette was searching and calling like a madd woman, very impressive. M checked for places too (up to a couple of hours away). NO VACANCIES! We ended up staying in a suite at the only place we could find. We paid a pretty penny for it, but fortunately it was big enough for all of us. I must say we got the better end of the deal, we got the room w/ the bed. L & J stayed on the cot and pull out bed. So sorry guys!!!! We all slept fine though and that was about the only alone time we had as adults (after kids went to bed). It was fun to be together. M put Iza to sleep and L called an old farmer way past his bed time! We were looking for an apple orchard to go to on Sunday. My kids were bummed there was no pool, but they enjoyed jumping around the jacuzzi tub.

Sunday morning after our crazy breakfast we drove to Maine. We had a specific city in mind, but just stopped at the first orchard we saw on the way. We were the first of many to get there and picked ourselves some yummy apples.

We snacked on fresh picked apples and baked goods we picked up at the local bakery as we started off through NH. We were going to stop and experience a cider mill, but decided to push on. Again 'little B' was no navigational genius and we were driving all crazy! We also were trying to find a place that sold magnets so L could get one. After THAT we headed to VT. We did enjoy the beauty as we drove.

We arrived in Sharon, VT just in time to take family photos! I know this is the dreaded moment for all spouses, but I don't have an updated photo and I trust L to take a great photo, plus I had THE spot in my head and it was down the lane heading into the birthplace of Joseph Smith. It was very cold, but we got it!

The kids played and we hung out for a bit.

Back to MA. We stopped in a small town for dinner at Friendly's, which was very friendly noted L! Poor regulars thought we were crazy! We were pretty loud, but it happens when 10 people have been cooped up in cars! After dinner Mad's drove w/ us. That was fun! The kids all enjoyed a movie and coloring together. We arrived to our hotel pretty late and after we switched rooms (smoker stink) we hit the hay.

Monday morning we went our different ways. The Watts headed to Springfield for the basketball HOF, now I wish we would've too. I didn't think it would be so kid friendly. We got on the road and started our travel home. We stopped a few times to eat, but pretty much headed straight through. I think we live in a beautiful state and seeing the fall leaves was inspiring. Love fall colors.

The kids did so well, in fact it would seem O did better on the road, strapped in, than he did roaming free, us telling him 'no' every time he tried to touch something! The kids and I played Simon Says in the back of the van, they watched movies, did homework, napped and snacked. I looked at my scrap mag, but mostly worked on cute felt flowers while visiting w/ my man.

We had such a great time. I love going places and love being with my family. It was a bonus to get to spend time with great friends. Love you Watts family.
