We're baaaaack!
And I'll tell you right off the bat I am not America's favorite dancer... although I am this blog's favorite dancer!!!
We had a great time in Chicago!
It is so great to be home though!
Every great road trip starts with a nice cold drink! I headed to my favorite stop, NOCO before picking up my partner in travel!
We traveled all day, laughed, ate, and arrived around 8 pm. We unpacked and ate dinner in our room, we brought a cooler filled with food.
We woke up at our leisure on Thursday morning, well, after I woke up to go pee I couldn't go back to sleep, adrenaline, so I went running. Then we both got up and got ready to go. We took the hotel shuttle to the airport and took the train into Chicago. That was cool, we enjoyed the train.
After much anticipation we arrived at the historic Chicago theatre! We were completely surprised to see no one standing outside... it was around noon. We hoped they were still having auditions!
We went in, and after having our bags checked, and some old guy reminding me that they would be checking ID (I guess I look old), we signed our waivers and headed up the stairs. We weren't sure what we'd find, but we both were prepared to wait a while for our turn. When we entered the theatre they took us to our seats and told us we were 'lucky', we were up next! Whatever! We hadn't sat down for 5 minutes and we were up again to go audition! I was SO nervous! I couldn't calm down. They took our large group (about 50) down to get warmed up. Then we went down in groups of 10 to 'freestyle' for Shane Sparks and a producer of the show. They turned on random music and you went out one at a time to dance. Damita and I got split up. I got to see her because I went after her, but she didn't get to see me.
After dancing you stood in a half circle and they brought tickets to whomever would be able to come back the following day for callbacks. I was not in that group...
but, I do find consolation in the fact that there were several great dancers in my group that didn't make it through either. AND there was ONE girl in my group that called back, that had no talent, so I'm glad I at least didn't get called back so they could make a fool of me!
If trying to get published, in the scrapbooking realm, has taught me anything, it is this... it is subjective. Only those that seek to fill the position know if you will fit that bill. It was good to remind myself of that during this process. I know I can still dance and I will, and I will watch the show still! I love it! I just wasn't what they were looking for... and that is OK.
My goal was to go and audition for this show. Mission accomplished! I wish the process that I've been preparing for would've lasted more than 20 minutes, but I'm still glad I did it! What a rush! And, I can't wait to see who makes the top 20, maybe it will be someone that I met!
We had some serious doughnuts on the way home! It was our 'sigh of relief' binge!
The sun setting on our trip...
Thank you all for your support! You are the best!
Hmmmm, now I need something else to work towards. I've always wanted to run a marathon, maybe I'll do that...
